About Bramble & Briar

Bramble & Briar is an Appalachian folk magic and apothecary shop in the mountains of West Virginia.

We started Bramble & Briar because we wanted to create the kind of shop we would want to walk into ourselves—somewhere you can browse shelves full of herbs and curiosities, find supplies for your practice, ask questions without feeling out of place, and probably leave with something you weren't planning on buying.

Our shop carries a growing selection of herbs and roots, crystals and stones, incense, candles, spell kits, ritual tools, oils, tarot and oracle decks, books, spiritual supplies, altar goods, and plenty of other unusual finds. Some things are sourced from makers and suppliers we trust, while others are made right here by us, including our beeswax candles, spell kits, and other handcrafted items.

Our roots are here in Appalachia, and that's an important part of who we are. We have a particular love for Appalachian folklore, folk magic, herbal traditions, and the beliefs and practices that have been passed down throughout these mountains. At the same time, Bramble & Briar isn't limited to a single tradition or practice. Our shelves reflect many different interests and paths, and there's plenty here for people who are simply curious, too.

And we want Bramble & Briar to be more than somewhere you come to buy things.

As we grow, we'll be offering tarot and other divination readings, personalized spellwork, spell and spiritual consultations, and local house and space cleansings. We're also developing classes and workshops covering everything from the foundations of magical practice and divination to herbal traditions, seasonal practices, Appalachian traditions, and more advanced topics.

If you're new to all of this, you're welcome here. You don't need to know exactly what you're looking for or already know what everything on the shelf does. Come in, look around, ask us questions, and learn something. If you've been practicing for years, we hope you'll find things here that are a little harder to come across elsewhere.

We also care about keeping our prices reasonable. Spiritual supplies don't need to be ridiculously expensive to be worthwhile. We want someone to be able to stop in for a few herbs or a candle without spending a fortune, while also having handcrafted and specialty pieces available when they're looking for something more.

Whether you come in looking for ingredients for a working, your next tarot deck, a handmade candle, a reading, a class, or you just saw the shop and wondered “What in the world is in there?” — come on in.

And if you aren't local, you'll still be able to wander the brambles. Our online shop is growing alongside our physical store, with online ordering, shipping, and local pickup coming soon.
